“I
have found the discussions to be useful in the information that I can bring back
regarding teaching modalities, tenure, salaries, start-up funds and a variety of
other topics. I have made some good friends, valuable research contacts
and several collaborations from these meetings.“

“There
is value in the interchange with fellow Chairs, meeting new Chairs, discussing
important issues that we are all dealing with in our home institutions, and
seeing how some have met challenges most of us encounter.”

“The
contacts I've made there have proved extremely valuable and I concur that they
would not have been cemented nearly so well in a more conventional setting.
Being locked up with all of you non-stop playing…and discussing scientific and
other issues at formal sit-down meetings has allowed me to get to know
surprisingly many of my colleagues on a very personal, unpretentious
level, which has already led to collaborations on regional projects and
solutions for potentially prickly personnel and political issues that some of them
had already encountered in their own jobs. This process has made me much
better at my job. Thank you! I hope that we don't lose sight of the value of
joyfully and respectfully convening with others with similar values, problems
and goals in an environment that stimulates close, personal interactions.“

“…a
great meeting where some of the most important networking and
information-exchange takes place outside of the formal meeting…a pleasant and
stimulating winter-break in a warm climate....”
